Spending a Saturday fishing with my family, I wondered: what makes fishing so appealing? Is it the peacefulness of being out on the water, the thrill of the catch, or the gamble of not knowing what’s beneath the surface?

Fishing has been around since the beginning, and it made me think about what Jesus meant when He said, “I want you to be fishers of men.” Did He mean for His followers to be so filled with love that others would be drawn to Him?

Being fishers of men means being open to helping others—guiding, praying, and simply being a light. As Jesus said, “Teach a man to fish and he will eat for life.” It’s about letting God work through us to touch others’ lives.
